Real-Time Monitoring for Real-World Manufacturing
At MatterField, we're redefining how component state is, measured, represented, and used across the entire manufacturing lifecycle.
Our Advanced Manufacturing Operating System - Amos - combines a novel Adaptively Sampled Distance Function (ASDF) framework with integrated in-situ sensing to form a complete, real-time model of the manufacturing process. By tightly coupling geometric representation and precision structured light scanning, we deliver a live, high-fidelity view of every part as it's being built—enabling smarter decisions, tighter control, and better outcomes.
Our high-resolution imaging system - called Mantis - allows Amos to resolve the finest details in your manufacturing process, delivering the raw data that Amos requires to provide actionable process intelligence in real time.
Amos: Matterfield’s Operating System
-
Traditional manufacturing systems rely on a cascade of file conversions—from CAD to mesh to toolpath —each introducing complexity and opportunity for error. The MatterField Advanced Manufacturing Operating System (Amos) eliminates that stack. Our custom geometry kernel uses an Adaptively-Sampled Distance Field (ASDF) representation to directly encode part geometry in a single, continuous form, enabling seamless integration of design intent, process planning, and real-time sensor feedback.
-
The ASDF framework adapts to the your part geometry in real time. It provides exact geometry without the memory burden of dense voxel grids, leverages GPU acceleration for high-speed computation, and supports direct analysis of point cloud data from in-situ scanners—without requiring cumbersome postprocessing or reconstruction.
-
Whether you're planning toolpaths, hunting for defects, or closing the loop with adaptive control, MatterField’s technology ensures you're always working with the same precise geometric representation. No lossy conversions. No guesswork. Just a continuous, trusted model of the part—before, during, and after it's made.
-
Our integrated, high-resolution stereoscopic imaging and structured light projection enable dense, accurate 3D scans of each part—layer by layer or feature by feature. Unlike conventional scanners, our system is engineered for the harsh environments of advanced manufacturing systems, and optimized to feed directly into the ASDF model, allowing immediate geometric comparison without meshing, reconstruction, or alignment.
-
All sensing, evaluation, and error detection are performed locally at the machine using efficient edge computing. The ASDF framework is optimized to run in real time on GPU-accelerated embedded systems, eliminating the need to transmit sensitive geometry or sensor data offsite. Your process stays secure, fast, and under your control.
-
In most systems, sensors, software, and processing tools come from different vendors—resulting in fragile integrations and inconsistent insights. MatterField is different. Our entire stack—from sensing hardware to geometry processing—is designed from the ground up as a unified system. That means no brittle plugins, no format mismatches, and no data lost in translation—just a clear, consistent view of your part state at every step. It also means no lock-in. Take your data in open formats to any analysis tool your team needs. Amos enables you to control the flow of data, and you can build tools that work seamlessly with Amos via gRPC.
